Front Yard Landscape & Curb Appeal Enhancement
Retaining Walls, Landscape Design, Decorative Stone, Foundation Plantings, and Front Entry Improvements
The Project
A few years after GLC Landscaping & Pools built their backyard patio and outdoor living space, these Southeast Michigan homeowners were ready to bring the same level of design and finish to the front of their property.
The home already had strong architectural character, mature shade trees, and a large front yard footprint, but the landscape beds felt undersized compared to the scale of the home. The front entry also lacked the visual flow needed to create a polished first impression from the street.
GLC Landscaping & Pools redesigned the front landscape with expanded curved bed lines, layered planting areas, and natural stone retaining walls that better framed the property and tied the entire front yard together.
The new retaining wall system creates clean separation between the lawn and planting beds while introducing softer curves that complement the shape of the home and driveway. Decorative stone groundcover replaced high-maintenance mulch areas, helping the landscape feel cleaner, more refined, and easier to maintain over time.
New shrubs, flowering plants, and ornamental accents were strategically layered throughout the beds to add color, texture, and visual depth without making the space feel overcrowded. Existing mature trees were preserved and incorporated into the design, helping the finished landscape feel established and balanced from day one.
The final result gives the property a stronger sense of arrival and creates curb appeal that feels intentional, organized, and professionally designed.
The Process
Like every GLC project, the transformation started with a clear plan.
The team evaluated the scale of the property, existing grading, mature tree placement, and how the front landscape could better support the architecture of the home. The goal was to create a front yard that felt more cohesive while maintaining open space and clean sightlines from the street.
Once the design direction was finalized, GLC’s in-house team handled every phase of the installation, including retaining wall construction, bed preparation, decorative stone installation, planting layout, and finishing details.
Because the work was managed by one experienced team, the homeowners had clear communication, organized project flow, and confidence throughout the installation process.
