Hardscape Foreman

Do you have 5+ years experience in Hardscape installation? Can you read basic plans, operate equipment and love a challenge?
We are looking for an experienced Hardscape Foreman to run an experienced hardscape crew.

Ideal candidate would meet the following requirements:

  • Extensive experience installing brick paver patios, along with natural stone, retaining walls, and steps. (required)

  • Proven ability to lead, train, and mentor hardscape and landscape crew members

  • Strong skills in reading and executing landscape plans, blueprints, and job documents

  • Experience operating heavy construction equipment and masonry tools, with the ability to perform basic equipment maintenance

  • A professional, customer-focused demeanor while representing the company on job sites

  • Valid Driver’s License and MDOT Medical Card, with a clean driving record (required) Primary Responsibilities (Hands-On Role)

  • Actively lead and participate in the daily construction work, managing the execution of landscape and hardscape projects from start to finish

  • Plan and coordinate labor needs, equipment usage, and material deliveries, while working alongside the crew to meet project schedules and deadlines

  • Maintain direct responsibility for jobsite safety, quality, and productivity through active participation and oversight

  • Assist with jobsite preparation prior to project start, including layout, material staging, and equipment setup

  • Work daily in the field while supervising, coordinating, and scheduling the activities of a landscape construction crew (1–4 employees)

  • Delegate tasks appropriately while remaining hands-on in the construction process, assisting with all phases of installation

  • Install and assist in the construction of hardscape and landscape features including walkways, patios, fences, decks, posts, and related structures

  • Operate and work with tools and equipment daily, including skid steers, excavators, laser levels, masonry tools, shovels, and hand tools

  • Read, interpret, and execute work from blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications, both personally and through crew direction

  • Lead by example by mentoring and training crew members according to company standards and best practices

  • Coordinate with subcontractors on-site and actively monitor quality, efficiency, and timelines

  • Complete and submit daily field paperwork, including site logs, crew reports, equipment inspections, attendance tracking, and time-and-material summaries

  • Enforce company standards for cleanliness, organization, and care of trucks, trailers, equipment, jobsites, and shop/yard areas

  • Ensure all work is performed safely and efficiently, with strict adherence to PPE requirements and safety protocols

  • Enforce and work in compliance with all local, state, and company health and safety regulations

  • Communicate professionally and courteously with customers while actively representing the company on-site

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years ’experience in the landscape/construction industry

  • Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner

  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)

  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines

  • Time management skills

  • Ability to read and interpret landscape design specifications

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

  • Knowledge of specific materials, ICPI install methods, tools and equipment required to complete various landscape/construction practices

  • Speak, read, and write English — Bi-lingual pay differential offered to candidates that are fluent in English and Spanish.

  • Carry and use a smart phone or data-enabled device for communication and reporting

Work Conditions:

  • Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, heavy equipment, and materials

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment

  • Excellent stamina is required

  • Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis

  • Work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold

  • Flexible working hours including occasional weekend work

This is a hands-on opportunity for a student or recent graduate to work on real residential and commercial projects, supporting both 2D/3D design work in the office and field measurements/site visits.

What You’ll Do:

Mechanic Intern
Apprentice (1-Year Training Program)

Position Overview

GLC Landscaping & Pools is seeking a Mechanic Intern / Apprentice to train under our Sr. House Mechanic in

a structured, hands-on, 1-year development program.


This role is ideal for someone who already has foundational mechanical skills and wants to advance into a

professional equipment and fleet mechanic role. You will work directly alongside our Sr. Mechanic, learning

preventative maintenance, diagnostics, repair prioritization, and shop organization while supporting our field

operations. This is not a “from-scratch” role — mechanical experience is required to start.

Core Responsibilities

● Assist with preventative maintenance on all company vehicles, trailers, and equipment

● Perform routine inspections, servicing, and adjustments under supervision

● Learn to identify early signs of mechanical failure before breakdowns occur

● Assist in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues

● Perform basic repairs and services appropriate to skill level

● Support efforts to minimize equipment downtime during peak production periods

● Maintain clean, organized workspaces and follow shop procedures

Training & Development (What You’ll Learn)

● Preventative maintenance scheduling and execution

● Proper documentation and maintenance logging for fleet assets

● Equipment diagnostics and repair decision-making

● When repairs should be handled in-house vs outsourced

● Parts identification, tracking, and inventory coordination

● Shop safety standards and best practices

● Communication with Operations regarding equipment priorities

You will receive ongoing coaching and task progression from the Sr. House Mechanic as your skills

develop.

Qualifications (Required)

● Ability to follow instructions and accept coaching

● Dependable, punctual, and safety-minded

● Valid driver’s license

Preferred (Not Required)

● Trade school coursework or technical training

● Experience with landscaping, construction, or fleet equipment

● Familiarity with hydraulic systems
