Hardscape Construction Foreman
Flat Rock, MI | Full-Time | Premium pay starting at $28.00 to $38.00 per hour
Do you have five or more years of experience in hardscape installation? Can you read basic plans, operate equipment, and love a challenge? GLC Landscaping & Pools is looking for an experienced hardscape foreman to run an experienced hardscape crew across Downriver and Southeast Michigan.
This is a hands-on role. You will run the crew and build alongside them.

Leading the crew
Actively lead and take part in the daily construction work, managing the execution of landscape and hardscape projects from start to finish
Work daily in the field while supervising, coordinating, and scheduling a landscape construction crew of one to four employees
Delegate tasks appropriately while staying hands-on through all phases of installation
Lead by example, mentoring and training crew members to company standards and best practices
Planning and coordination
Plan and coordinate labor needs, equipment usage, and material deliveries, working alongside the crew to meet project schedules and deadlines
Assist with jobsite preparation before a project starts, including layout, material staging, and equipment setup
Coordinate with subcontractors on site and actively monitor quality, efficiency, and timelines
Complete and submit daily field paperwork, including site logs, crew reports, equipment inspections, attendance tracking, and time-and-material summaries
Communicate professionally and courteously with customers while representing GLC on site
Hands-on construction
Install and assist in the construction of hardscape and landscape features including walkways, patios, fences, decks, posts, and related structures
Operate tools and equipment daily, including skid steers, excavators, laser levels, masonry tools, shovels, and hand tools
Read, interpret, and execute work from blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications, both personally and through crew direction
Safety and site standards
Maintain direct responsibility for jobsite safety, quality, and productivity through active participation and oversight
Ensure all work is performed safely and efficiently, with strict adherence to PPE requirements and safety protocols
Enforce and work in compliance with all local, state, and company health and safety regulations
Enforce company standards for cleanliness, organization, and care of trucks, trailers, equipment, jobsites, and shop and yard areas

Experience
A minimum of five years of experience in the landscape and construction industry
Extensive experience installing brick paver patios, along with natural stone, retaining walls, and steps (required)
Proven ability to lead, train, and mentor hardscape and landscape crew members
Knowledge of specific materials, ICPI install methods, tools, and equipment required across landscape and construction practices
Equipment and credentials
A valid driver's license and MDOT medical card, with a clean driving record (required)
Experience operating heavy construction equipment and masonry tools, with the ability to perform basic equipment maintenance
Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
Strong skills in reading and executing landscape plans, blueprints, and job documents

Time management skills and the ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
The ability to speak, read, and write English. GLC offers a bilingual pay differential to candidates who are fluent in English and Spanish

This is physical, outdoor work.
Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, heavy equipment, and materials
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift
Ability to work in a fast paced environment, where excellent stamina is required
Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis
Work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold

Landscape Design Intern
Flat Rock, MI | Full-Time | $23.00 to $28.00 per hour, based on experience
Coursework stops at the render. Real projects do not.
GLC Landscaping & Pools is an award-winning design-build firm in Flat Rock. As our landscape design intern, you will draw 2D and 3D plans for active residential and commercial projects, take measurements in the field, and follow your work from concept to estimate to construction, with coaching from experienced designers and project managers.

Design and drafting
Complete landscape design work in the office, including 2D layouts, concept plans, and construction-ready designs
Build 3D models and renderings for client presentations
Work with design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Uvision 3D Landscape Creator, or similar programs
Research and site work
Assist with site analysis, grading considerations, plant selection, and material research
Conduct field measurements and site visits to gather accurate data and better understand site conditions
Learning how it gets built
Collaborate with the sales, production, and field teams so designs are buildable and aligned with client expectations
Take part in internal design reviews and team brainstorming sessions
Learn how weather, soils, drainage, and the Southeast Michigan climate shape real design decisions

Education and local knowledge
Current enrollment in an accredited landscape design, landscape architecture, or horticulture program
An understanding of landscape and native plants in the Midwest
Local to Southeast Michigan and familiar with its climate, soils, and plant material
Skills and credentials
Experience or coursework with 2D and 3D design and modeling software, with Uvision 3D Landscape Creator preferred
Strong verbal, written, and graphic communication skills
A valid driver's license

Landscape Designer & Project Manager
Hybrid, design from home with in-person meetings at the GLC office in Flat Rock, MI | Full-Time, direct hire | $65,000 base plus commission
A design is only as good as the crew that builds it.
GLC Landscaping & Pools is hiring a landscape designer and project manager. This role covers the full arc of a project. You design it, you sell it, and you stay with it through completion.
You will meet with pre-qualified customers, create custom designs for projects large and small, work with the estimating team on quotes, and then act as the client's point of contact while the crews build it.

Design and client engagement
Create custom landscape designs for small-scale and large-scale projects
Meet with pre-qualified customers, handling smaller clients one on one and partnering with senior leadership on larger-scale projects
Sales and estimating
Learn and apply sales approaches that engage customers effectively
Work with the estimating team to prepare accurate project quotes
Promote maintenance services to existing and new customers, highlighting what GLC can handle
Project oversight
Serve as the primary point of contact for customers during active projects
Coordinate with foremen to hold projects to high quality standards and make adjustments as needed
Work with office staff to manage upcoming projects and source the highest-quality materials, balancing price, availability, and customer preferences
Team and growth
Attend team meetings at the GLC office during the landscape season
Take part in trade shows, additional training, and events that build professional skills
